About the Project

Trees for the Future is implementing this project as a component of a larger effort supported by Ohio State University in the villages of Mughanga and Ghalunyangu, approximately one hour north of Singida Town. We will be working with up to 30 farming families in each village to establish Forest Gardens to improve their livelihood. The area is semi-arid, with sunflower, maize and other cash crops as the main sources of income.

Benefits for Farmers

Project farmers benefit fromĀ increased household food security through diversifying food production. Additionally, the project provides farmers with increased household resilience to economic instability through diversifying their production of market-driven agricultural products. Establishing environmentally responsible agricultural systems through this project increases the productivity of rural landscapes, while planting trees improves soil fertility and restores environmental health.
