James grew up dividing his time between small towns in both Ohio and Oklahoma, but he always dreamed of exploring the world and understanding it better. After he graduated Cum Laude from Southern Nazarene University, James went to work in the US, but knew he wanted to make a bigger impact. In 2014 he moved to Hangzhou, China, where he worked as a teacher for 5 years. James has always had a love for nature and started learning about permaculture over a decade ago. The combined threats of climate change, soil degradation, biodiversity loss, and water scarcity are close to his heart- and all are improved by the Forest Garden Approach! When he discovered TREES, he knew he had found an organization that he wanted to be a part of. In his spare time, James enjoys reading, gardening, traveling, writing music, playing dungeons and dragons, and riding his motorcycle.
