Jennifer Burnett-Zieman

Jennifer Burnett-Zieman is the Senior Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) at Trees for the Future. She leads the organization’s global MEL strategy, overseeing team leadership, planning, and support to country programs to strengthen data use and continuous learning. Her work focuses on building practical systems that improve program quality, accountability, and impact.

Jennifer brings over 20 years of experience in international development, with 15 years focused on U.S. government-funded programs and MEL. She began her career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana, which shaped her commitment to community-centered development. She holds a Master’s in Public and International Affairs from Princeton University. She has worked in complex settings, including with The Carter Center in South Sudan, and as Country Director for a large U.S. government-funded malaria program in Malawi.

She is passionate about strengthening learning cultures and ensuring data supports decision-making at all levels. Since her Peace Corps days, when it was chalked on her wall, she has loved a quote from Margaret Mead: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.”
