Kristofer Johnson

Kristofer Johnson is the Carbon Development Technical Director at Trees for the Future. He looks after the technical strategy for TREES’ carbon portfolio, overseeing methodology development, measurement and verification systems, and the scientific rigor behind our agroforestry carbon projects.

With over 14 years of international experience spanning forest and soil carbon science, geospatial analysis, and carbon modeling methodologies, Kris brings a combination of field credibility and analytical depth to TREES’ work. He holds a PhD in Earth and Environmental Science from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Agronomy from Brigham Young University. His career has taken him across South Asia, Latin America, and now Africa, including technical leadership roles with the US Forest Service and FAO Bangladesh.

He is based in South Weber, Utah, with his wife and young family, who love to hit the mountains in the summers and winters, whether hiking, skiing, sledding, or just being outdoors.
